What- October!!

Where did 2017 go! To think we are about 7 weeks away from the end of Term 4 is baffling me; seriously, where has this year gone. Nonetheless, my wonderful students are still achieving some wonderful things since the last time I wrote a post, and as always I love sharing with you all what we have been up to:

So my lovely student Ava has been so insanely busy in the last two weeks with her singing, and her talent and dedication to music has made me such a proud teacher. Ava completed

her AMEB Preliminary Musical Theatre exam and received Honours- such an amazing achievement at a young age, especially when it was her first ever exam. Then, as one of my students competing in the Silkstone Eisteddfod this week, she has currently received a 1st placing for her Musical Theatre and 2nd placing for her Folk Song. Such a dedicated and talented student- cannot wait to see what she does next!

I am also very proud of my students Kelsey and Verity who have also competed in the Silkstone Eisteddfod this week. Whilst not placing, both girls have improved so much with some lovely comments from the adjudicator. Getting up in front of an audience is always nerve wracking- and I am very pleased and proud with the successes they have both made.

Speaking of exams, congrats to Harley on his completion of his AMEB Grade 1 piano exam on the weekend. Can't wait to see the results of all your hard work that you have put in this year!

Moving away from competitions, a huge congratulations to student Davin on his acceptance into the stock cast of the Brisbane Arts Theatre youth theatre series. Being new to singing to singing this year, Davin has improved in leaps and bounds, and to have such a successful first singing audition has really made me proud of the work he has done. Congrats again Davin- can't wait to see your shows in 2018!

Another student who has had great success has been Bronte. Bronte recently performed in Ipswich Orpheus Chorale's 2017 production of 'Beauty and the Beast' which I was very lucky to see last Friday evening. Always love watching my students perform, and watching Bronte was no exception. Congratulations on a wonderful and very enjoyable performance.

You would think that being toward the end of the year we would begin to slow down, but that is anything but the case! Within the last two months of the year, a number of students will sit their AMEB exams in the final session offered this year. AMEB examinations require great dedication within preparation, and these students have been working exceptionally hard to receive the best result possible. Can't wait for those nerves to finally go away and see the results of all their hard work and effort! So much to do in so little time, but if we love doing it, is it even work- don't think so!

So that is all to report really after my little hiatus from blog writing, but stayed tuned for some exciting announcements coming up for 2018! Won't want to miss this. Until then...

Yours in Music,

Miss Beck
