Term 2 Already?!?!?!?!

I cannot believe we are in term two already! 2017 is moving at such a rapid pace, with great things happening in the upcoming months with my wonderful students. Over the course of March we worked very hard in preparation for the upcoming term and now we are in our final stages of preparing for our first competition and performance of the year- Ipswich Junior Eisteddfod & the Ipswich Show!

Performing at any age is hard- the pressure of performing well, all the practice and rehearsal time preparing, and the nerves of actually standing on stage as one person is always tough, and I am so proud of my students getting up to have a go. What I try to teach each of my students is that every performance opportunity is an opportunity to learn and grow and become a better musician. Winning is never the goal, instead the comments the adjudicator makes are so much better. Being someone who has competed in this specific competition for a number of years, it has been a safe and encouraging environment for all students to gain confidence and progress. Again, so happy to see these students get up and have a go.

To brag a little, the following students are doing some wonderful things:

I am thrilled to see Bronte at the closing night of Ipswich Musical Theatre Company's theatre restaurant 'The Eurobeat Goes On' . Bronte has improved so much over the last year, and being cast and performing is such a great thing to see. Tickets for Eurobeat Goes On may be found via https://www.ipswichmusicaltheatrecompany.com.au/the-eurobeat-goes-on Congratulations Bronte!

The beautiful Ava is preparing to compete in the Ipswich Show's Young Talent on Show between

the 18th-20th May. Best of luck to Ava for her upcoming performances at the show.

I am also very excited to have Mei, Mio, Ava, Kelsey, Verity, Luci, Harley & Ashleigh all competing in the Ipswich Junior Eisteddfod between the 21st-27th May. For most of these students it is their first public performance EVER. So happy with the progress that these students have been making over the last term, keep up the good work boys and girls!

I also believe that as a musician teaching students to develop and grow, that I as a musician lead by example and also perform in the public domain. I have the honour and privilege of singing the National Anthem for the ANZAC Day dawn service in Bains Park. I have also been auditioning for some shows in the area and hope to update you all with some news soon.

So overall this month we are still mainly preparing for our competitions coming up in May but I am so happy with how each and every student is progressing. So much to update everyone on next month.
