Rebekah Barns- BComm/BA (UQ), AMEBCert. Performance- voice, LGDTA)

Rebekah Barns, beginning her teaching career in 2011, and has recently graduated her Bachelor of Arts (extended major in music performance) and Bachelor of Commerce at the University of Queensland in 2018. Including this, Rebekah has qualifications under the Australian Music Examinations Board (AMEB) including her Certificate of Performance voice, seventh grade flute and sixth grade piano, with Rebekah aiming to complete her Diploma of Music in 2019. Rebekah has also completed the equivalent of AMusA theory of music within her university studies.

Throughout her performance career, Rebekah has competed in numerous competitions at local and state levels, winning the 16-20yrs young ladies' vocal solo at the Queensland Eisteddfod. Rebekah has also been a part of several musical theatre shows including Ipswich Musical Theatre Company’s Les Miserables (ensemble- 2017), ‘Wicked’ (Glinda understudy- 2016), 'Thoroughly Modern Millie' (Millie- 2012) and Seussical the Musical (Mrs. Mayor- 2010). Recently, Rebekah performed as a lead vocalist for the 2018 Lord Mayor's Charity Gala Ball, and has previously performed at the Ipswich Mayor’s Carols by Candlelight as a guest artist of the Ipswich City Orchestra. Rebekah also has dance training from several dance studios, including Helen Clark School of Dance, Theatre & Dance & Starstruck Productions, attaining her teachers diploma in 2015.

Within recent years, Rebekah's passion of conducting has become an area of great interest since her work at university. In 2016, Rebekah participated in the Gondwana Choirs Conducting School as part of the Summer School in Sydney, Australia, and was chosen as one of the participants to work with conducting master Dr. Brady Allred. Rebekah is planning on further advancing her knowledge in this area.

In regards to her teaching career, Rebekah Barns is employed as music teacher and vocal coach at Prenzlau State School, and has been working at the school since 2014. Rebekah has also worked with the Queensland Symphony Orchestra's youth programme in September 2017, as well as Brisbane Arts Theatre's Children's Theatre season in January 2017. Rebekah has also been vocal and dance teacher at Helen Clark School of Dance and Integrity & Talent Studios, and is former resident choreographer of the Blackstone Ipswich Cambrian Choir Inc
